Very large online platforms and search engines

Article 33 of the DSA also defines the concept of very large online platforms (VLOPs) and very large online search engines (VLOSEs) which reach on average at least 45 million monthly active users of the service in the EU. Providers of such services are expressly identified by the European Commission by decision and the list of providers is also published.

A special set of rules from the DSA applies to providers of VLOPs and VLOSEs, relating to the identification, analysis and assessment of systemic risks, risk management and mitigation, crisis response mechanisms, recommendation systems, additional transparency of online advertising, provision of access to and oversight of data (for vetted researchers), establishment of a compliance function and transparency reporting obligations.

There are no providers in Slovenia that the European Commission has identified by decision as providers of VLOPs or VLOSEs.
